English local elections 2022: A manifesto for cycling - make it happen
We asked candidates in your council area, including your ward, to pledge their support for three simple asks which would enable more people to cycle - and people to cycle more often.
Unfortunately, we have now closed our 'write to candidate' action. However, you can still find out which candidates made the pledge by entering your postcode below.
A note that Cycling UK is only campaigning in select council elections in 2022. Follow to this page to learn more.
What's the pledge?
The politicians you elect in May can deliver safe and accessible cycling and walking routes, creating places and communities designed for people.
Getting more people walking and cycling has massive individual, environmental, economic and community benefits, but councils urgently need to step up to make this happen.
But they need to hear that this is what people want.
Our manifesto for cycling asks candidates to:
- Prioritise developing a connected network of safe cycling and walking routes
- Commit sufficient funding for active travel - to deliver these networks and achieve the government’s 2025 target to double levels of cycling
- Deliver cycle infrastructure in line with government standards – safe and accessible for all
