Northern Ireland budget: help make the case for more funding for cycling

Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK which has set a legal requirement to spend 10% of the transport budget on cycling and walking by 2030.

But we are not seeing any urgency in reaching that spending requirement. Less than 2% of the budget is currently spent on cycling and walking, and the little that is spent has not delivered quality, well-located cycle routes that will get more people cycling.

We have an opportunity to change that. The Department of Finance is planning next year’s budget, and they want to hear what you think the priorities should be.

If we all tell them that we want to know how funding for cycling will be ramped up to reach that 10%, it will put more pressure on the Department for Infrastructure to meet and communicate that commitment.

We’ve provided some suggested points to make it as easy as possible to respond before the consultation closes on 10 March. Simply enter your details below and you'll be able to edit our suggested responses before you hit send.
