Safer speeds for Northern Ireland
The Department for Infrastructure is consulting on bold plans to review speed limits to make our roads safer for cycling.
There are three main proposals:
- Introducing more 20mph limits in residential areas
- Reducing the national speed limit on rural roads
- Changing speed limits for HGVs
Speed is one of the biggest factors contributing to collisions. This is a once in a generation chance to save lives and reduce serious injuries. But we know from other parts of the UK that reducing speed limits can lead to opposition.
That’s why we need to show that most people want safer roads. It’s all about the numbers, and every response counts. It only takes a minute – just fill in your details below to submit our suggested response before the consultation closes on 22 April.
If you have already responded using the DfI's online consultation survey, thank you, and you don't need to do it again here.
