Get on my land!

In February, Cycling UK published Beyond the Green Belt setting out our vision for what we want cycling in the countryside to look and feel like. One of our main asks was for the Government to make improvements to public access to the countryside a key part of their new system for farm subsidies post-Brexit.

And after we made that call, the Government launched a Green Brexit consultation seeking views about linking payments to farmers in England to various public benefits, one of which is improving public access.

Cycling UK think this is a golden opportunity to better support a national network of paths and trails, including our rights of way. But to do this we need to make sure that public access ends up in the new Agriculture Bill as one of the public benefits linked to farm subsidies. We need your help to make this happen.

This isn’t just about cycling. We’re working with other outdoor access groups who share a common goal to ensure that everyone can enjoy the countryside equally.

If that’s something you want to see, fill in the short form, click “next” and you’ll be sent to an editable letter supporting the call we’re making in our consultation response for public subsidies to be linked to improved public access.

That letter will be sent to the Government in response to the Green Brexit consultation, but if you want to respond fully to other questions in the consultation you can also do so online here.
