Cycling UK needs your help to get more people cycling more safely.
The Government in Whitehall wants to hear what type of cyclist you are, and what you think would make cycling and walking not just safer, but also feel safer. They're especially keen to hear from people who are less certain on our roads or who have been put off from cycling altogether.
Cycling UK's message to them is “make it simple”. Cycle safety is not as complex as some might believe and using the “Safe Systems” approach we believe safer cycling can be achieved by addressing six important areas:
- Road and street design
- Changes to the Highway Code
- Safer vehicles, especially lorries
- Road traffic offences and penalties review
Cycling UK has sent the Government our executive summary explaining how each of these areas will encourage more and safer cycling, and now we need your support to help them take note.
Please just fill in the short form and by clicking “next” you’ll be sent to an editable letter supporting Cycling UK’s solutions to make cycling safe for everyone - you’ve only got until the 1 June to let them know what you think so take action now!
Our solutions are relevant throughout most of the UK, although the delivery of some would be matters for the devolved countries, so it’s vital that people who care about active travel across the UK make their voice heard.
Please lend us your support in this crucial campaign. If you want more people cycling more safely, why wouldn’t you?
